Dr Mariano Salvatierra studied medicine at the University of Córdoba, Argentina, and continued his career in hospitals in Bogotá and at Santa Lucía in Buenos Aires, where he qualified as a specialist eye surgeon and ophthalmologist. He continued his specialist training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, United States.
Dr Salvatierra moved to southern Spain in the early 2000s, when he opened his own private outpatient clinic for eye problems. He joined the Clínica Sandalf team in 2008. Using his experience and the equipment available at the clinic, he provides ophthalmology consultations and eye assessments and, when appropriate, can initiate treatment.
His work includes cataract, glaucoma, presbyopia, also known as tired eyes, and other eye conditions. When surgery is required, it is performed at a nearby private hospital, with Dr Salvatierra providing follow-up during recovery.
